Jacqueline Egli, the Past President of the Florida LDA, attended the 2012 LDA National Conference held in Chicago. Mrs. Egli attended a meeting regarding the Healthy Children’s Project, an initiative launched by the National LDA. The Florida LDA has joined forces with the National LDA to create awareness for the need for regulations of  toxic chemicals being used in the environment. The Safe Chemicals Act is a call to action to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee to protect children and families by changing the laws and regulations for chemicals being purchased and used in the United States. For more information and how you can become involved, go to: www.saferchemicals.org

Mark Halpert, our Co-President, recently attended two Board of Education Meetings on the Inclusion of Students with Disabilities in the accountability system.  Unfortunately, the Task Force focused on students with intellectual disabilities, and did not address the needs of students with Specific Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia or ADHD.  Mark will be spearheading an effort represent these students.
