FCAT
Advice
The FCAT
test can cause the pressure on your child to be quite high.
There are a number of
things you can do to help them including:
Help them visualize test questions
and draw out the answers. |
Give them clues that help them
eliminate the obviously wrong answers and narrow
down the choices. |
If they are supposed to get extra
time and/or a quiet room to take the test, check
with their Special Education Specialist and make
sure they get the agreed to accommodations. |
Before the test: |
o
Make
sure they get a good night sleep
o
Make
them a breakfast that they like
o
If
they take medication, make sure they take it early enough so
they alert by the time they get to school
o
If
they wear glasses, make sure they bring them to the test and
they are clean
o
Have
them bring a bottle of water to the test
o
Give
them positive feedback and encouragement and keep the
tension level low and their confidence high
